San Diego Shopping

San Diego shopping has sort of brought us closer together as a family.

My idea of shopping is: you decide what you want before you go, you walk into the store, find what you want, check out, and go home.

My wife and daughters have another concept of shopping.

They go to a store and look and look and .... maybe find something that they want to buy.

If they don't find anything they want they go on to the next store and the process starts all over.

The great news for me is that when shopping in San Diego I don't mind so much when they just look because I can usually find an outdoor bench and just enjoy the beautiful weather while they look and look and...

One of our favorite places to shop in San Diego is Seaport Village.

This wonderful outdoor shopping mall has more than 50 stores and is located along the Embarcadero's waterfront.

Seaport Village

At the stores you can find: flags, wooden toys, candles, T-shirts, jewelry, sea shells, and just about anything else you can think of.

One of my favorite shops is Wyland Galleries where you can find the marine-life art of Wyland.

When you get hungry, you can choose from more than a dozen places to eat. You can find pizza, burgers, fish, Greek food, candy, and ice cream.

If you so desire, shopping at Seaport Village can be an all day affair.

Another place to shop while in San Diego is Westfield Horton Plaza.
This is a multi-level, open air shopping mall with over 130 stores.

Horton Plaza shopping mall

It is located in the Gaslamp Quarter and is within walking distance of most downtown hotels.

At Westfield Horton Plaza there are big name department stores, restaurants, and cinemas. Some of the stores include: Banana Republic, Gap, Guess?, Macy's, and Nordstrom.

For food you can find anything from fast food to upscale dining to ice cream. The convenient location and wide variety of stores makes Horton Plaza a great choice to do your shopping while you are here.

Gaslamp Quarter gives you a wide variety of choices. You can find many great stores at the Westfield Horton Plaza shopping mall or you can choose from among many boutiques, specialty shops, galleries, and gift shops. Most of these stores are within walking distance from downtown hotels.

Little Italy offers a wide variety of shops and galleries. You can find ceramics, clothing, glassware, home accents and much more.

Mission Valley has some great shopping opportunities to offer including two major malls, Fashion Valley Mall and Westfield Mission Valley.

San Diego shopping is a tourist treat for me. Instead of being inside a big mall, you can be at a beautiful outdoor mall where you can shop but still enjoy the wonderful California weather.
